Greek B2 certificate for doctors: where and when to register

The Certificate of Attainment in Greek is the only Greek state certificate of Greek-language proficiency. B2 is examined once a year, in May.

Where do I register for Greek B2?

Complete the online application on the Centre for the Greek Language (CGL) website at greek-language.gr/certification, choose an examination centre in Greece or abroad, and pay the fee to that centre during the registration period. The application is not complete without payment. Iatrós is not affiliated with the CGL.

When is the next B2 exam?

B2 is held once a year, in May. The next B2 exam is on 12 May 2027, alongside C1. Registration for May 2027 is reported as 1 February to 14 March 2027, but deadlines can be extended, so check the CGL website.

Can I take B2 in autumn?

No. The October 2026 session covers only A2 for professional purposes and B1, and only at centres in Greece.

How much does the B2 exam cost?

Each centre sets its own fee. Examples for 2026: 100 euros at the University of Vienna and 130 US dollars at UCLA. Confirm the fee with your centre.

What does B2 test?

Listening, reading, speaking and writing. B2, C1 and C2 also test use of language: grammar and vocabulary.

Do doctors need B2 to practise in Greece?

We have not found confirmation that B2 is a formal requirement for a medical licence. Check the requirements with DOATAP, the Panhellenic Medical Association and the body that recognises professional qualifications. Strong Greek still helps, because the ΔΟΑΤΑΠ exam and patient care are in Greek.

How can I learn Greek medical terms?

Iatrós has a free dictionary of more than 4,500 Greek medical terms at iatros.uk/dictionary and Greek audio podcasts at iatros.uk/podcasts.
