Preparing for the ΔΟΑΤΑΠ exam with ADHD or autism

Many doctors who prepare for the ΔΟΑΤΑΠ exam study with ADHD, autism or other differences in attention and processing. You do not need a diagnosis to use these methods. They are ordinary study techniques that cost less effort for everyone.

Does extra time help on a multiple-choice exam?

Not by itself. In one study of university students with ADHD, extended test time alone did not raise performance (Journal of Attention Disorders, 2019). Training in test-taking strategy did help in other work (Baeyens and colleagues, 2021). So rehearse how you answer, not only how long you have.

How long should one study session be?

Short and finished. Try 25 to 40 minutes on one specialty, then a real break away from the screen. Stop at a planned point so that starting the next session is easy.

How do I keep a routine?

Use the same time and the same first task every day, for example 20 due flashcards, then one block of questions. A fixed start removes the daily decision about where to begin.

How do I prepare for the exam day itself?

Take timed mock exams in the Day 1 and Day 2 format so that the length, the Greek wording and the pace are no surprise. Write down what went wrong each time: reading too fast, losing focus after an hour, second-guessing.

Can I ask for accommodations at the exam?
